Portsmouth Pride parade takes place through Southsea

Hundreds of people have attended the Portsmouth Pride rally in Southsea today. This is the third time that the event has come to the city. It has been organised by a committee of local volunteers who say the event is not just for the LGBTQ plus community, but a chance for everybody to get together in a celebration of unity in a safe space. Sally Simmonds sent this report from the seafront in Portsmouth.

Victims of the Orlando shooting have been remembered at events across the South. Last night, people on the Isle of Wight held a candlelit vigil and today, at the second annual Portsmouth Pride parade and show crowds gathered to pay their respects.
