'Lost coin' worth £120,000 found by widow

A Queen Anne coin, believed to belong to a widow who discovered it in her former husband's chest of drawers, is to be sold at auction for around £120,000.

The widow from Tunbridge Wells had no idea her husband had the gold piece stashed away among his clothes and didn’t think it was valuable at first. It will be sold by Lewes based auction house Gorringes next month.

It was only when an expert inspected it that it was revealed to be a ‘lost’ coin made from gold seized by the British from a Spanish treasure ship in 1702.
