The snow was long predicted, and when it came, amounted to not much more than 2.5 inches. The Highways Authorities were ready with grit and salt, and all major roads and rail routes stayed open.
So the question so many parents have been asking today is why did so many schools have to close?
In East Sussex and Brighton 148 schools were shut, or partially shut. In Kent and Medway 228 were closed.
