Householders in the South will have to pay higher energy bills from today. The average cost of both gas and electricity from Scottish and Southern Energy is rising by 9%. It means the average dual-fuel customer will pay an extra £8.50 a month.
Unison wants British Gas and Southern Energy to work together to help try and reduce redundancies in Southampton.
It's after British Gas announced it was closing its Southampton Call Centre last week at the same time that Southern Electric announced it was looking to create a further 200 new call centre jobs in Havant.

I am aware there is a fair distance between Southampton and Havant but British Gas need to look at how they can assist with helping current staff to travel to Havant.
Unison wants British Gas and Southern Energy to work together to minimise redundancies in Southampton. It hopes those at risk of losing their jobs in the city will be employed by Southern Electric in Havant.
