Winchester: Steve Brine MP 'flattered' to win seat again

The MP for Winchester, Steve Brine, has said that he feels flattered to have won the Winchester seat for a second time.

The politician attracted 30,425 votes, almost 17,000 votes more than his closest rival the Liberal Democrat Jackie Porter. Seventy-four percent of the local electorate turned out to the polls to cast their votes.

MP 'not surprised' at critical prison report

The MP for Winchester, Steve Brine has responded to an official report which criticises Winchester Prison for its 'deteriorating' state, and the way it has handled prisoners.

The conclusions from the Prisons Inspectorate followed an announced inspection visit in October 2012.

The Chief Inspector of Prisons acknowledged that a new leadership is now making improvements to the running of the jail.
