Coogan cleared of driving offence
Comedian Steve Coogan has been cleared of failing to identify thedriver of his Land Rover after a speed camera recorded it doing 39 mphin a 30mph zone on Hove seafront.
Mr Coogan told Brighton magistrates he was not able to name the driverwithin the 28 days allowed because it was a pool car used by up to 20family and staff at his production company.He said it took him five "exceptionally busy" months to rememberlending the car on the day of the offence to a friend.
The friend, Jodie Bailey, was visiting the UK from Australia and admitted being the driver in a statement to the court butsaid she was unaware of being flashed by the speed camera on October12 last year.
