Police appeal after cars collide to avoid chopped down tree

Police are appealing for witnesses after two cars collided as they tried to avoid a tree in the road.

A blue Volkswagen Golf and a blue Saab 93 crashed on the A24 at Warnham on Christmas Eve.

A tree had been cut down and was lying in the northbound carriageway when the drivers tried to avoid it at about 6.30am.

The 34-year-old woman from Crawley who was driving the Volkswagen suffered an injured knee and whiplash.

The 58-year-old man from Dorking who was driving the Saab suffered cuts and whiplash. His 47-year-old female passenger, also from Dorking, suffered a fractured breastbone.

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting Operation Budapest or email.

I need to speak to anyone who saw the tree in the road before the collision or saw the cars crash but who has not yet come forward.

I also need to find out who cut the tree down. If you know who was responsible or when it happened, please contact me.
