Video. A school has re-opened just a few days after a fire ripped through some of its buildings. Five hundred pupils were ushered to safety when the blaze broke out at Winton Community Academy in Andover. But the damage was so bad, there were fears the school would remain closed for some time.
Instead, the work of the emergency services and school staff has meant students were able to go back this morning. Andrew Pate reports.
Hundreds of pupils who were evacuated following a fire at a school in Hampshire are due to return to their classrooms this morning.
Winton Community Academy near Andover closed on Thursday after a fire in the roof of its sport centre.
More than 30 firefighters attended the incident, no one was hurt. In a message on its website the school said pupils should arrive by 10am and report to mentor groups for registration.
