New water pipeline for Sussex

Construction on a new water main begins in Sussex next week as pat of a two million pound scheme to upgrade a water treatment works. The new pipeline will link the village of Friston to South East Water's storage reservoir at Folkington. South East Water says the project will secure future supplies.

: “It is vital that we can move water around our network to help manage water supplies. This flexibility helps minimise disruption to customers if we ever have a burst water main and during droughts it enables us to move water from sources with more water available to areas where there is less."

– Graham Webb, South East Water Delivery Manager

Work will start on 2nd April and should be finished by the end of August. South East Water says its contractors will work during daylight hours on Monday to Fridays, but that there may be some weekend work.
