Woman's injuries are life-threatening

An 80-year-old woman from Lyndhurst is now in a life-threatening condition in hospital following a collision near the junction of Gosport Lane and High Street, yesterday.

The incident happened at 4.10pm as the woman tried to cross near the junction and was in collision with a red Ford Ka.

She sustained serious injuries, which have since become life threatening. She is in a critical but stable condition at Southampton General Hospital. The driver, a 68-year-old woman from Lyndhurst, was shaken but uninjured.

The junction of Gosport Lane and High Street was closed until 7.34pm while collision investigators examined the scene. Witnesses are asked to contact PC Mike Batten at Totton Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Manorside.
