Warning to drivers in Kent as strong winds hit the south east

Road users along the south coast and the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge at the Dartford Thurrock River Crossing are being advised to check the weather forecast and road conditions before they travel today.

The Met Office has issued an amber alert that strong winds are expected with gusts up to 40-50mph.

The Highways Agency is working closely with the Met Office to monitor weather conditions and maintain safe roads and reliable journeys.Drivers are advised to plan their journeys before they set out, checking the forecast and traffic conditions.
