Police are holding awareness events in Andover warning people about vehicle crime in rural areas. Officers say most thefts from vehicles are opportunist. If valuables such as handbags, sat navs, mobile phones and cameras are left inside a vehicle, it is much more likely to be targeted by thieves.
Police will be offering crime prevention advice to motorists as well as handing out drawstring rucksacks which they can use to store valuables in while they go out and about and enjoy the countryside, rather than leave them in their vehicle.
