The Football League have released a statement today saying Portsmouth Football Club will start the season with 0 points. The side had been supposed to begin with -10 points. However the penalty will only be applied once the club comes out of administration.
"At its monthly meeting earlier today, the Board of The Football League received an update on the current situation at Portsmouth Football Club. The League will continue working with the Administrator in an effort to secure the future of the Club.
"Given the ongoing dialogue between the Administrator and the Supporters' Trust, the Board has given its consent to Portsmouth beginning the new season in administration. The Club will start on zero points, with the conditions of membership announced at the Board's previous meeting - including a ten point deduction - not coming into effect unless and until the club exits administration."
