Eastleigh Borough Council is set to honour local Olympic gold medallist Dani King by naming a cycle route in her home village of Hamble-le-Rice as the ‘Dani King Cycleway’.
The safe cycling route runs along Hamble Lane from near to the junction with Portsmouth Road in Bursledon to its junction with Copse Lane near to Hamble-le-Rice village.
The cycle route passes Dani’s old primary school and Hamble Community Sports College where she started her cycling career and runs close to her parents’ home.
Dani says "It will be an honour to have a cycle path named after me. When people ride along it I hope it will remind them of the legacy of the Olympics and inspire them to keep fit and enjoy sport".
