Backing for 'safer' level crossing

Councillors in West Berkshire have backed new calls for safety improvements at Ufton Nervet following eight deaths at the level crossing since 2004.

Hundreds of local people signed a petition calling on the council to press Network Rail to install a full barrier crossing or make other improvements.

Councillors of all parties backed the motion last night. Network Rail say a review is underway.
