Emergency teams are investigating whether anybody was inside a car which plunged off cliffs on the Isle of Wight.
The vehicle ended up in water after falling from Culver Cliffs but the tide and weather conditions were hampering efforts to retrieve it.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said today: "It appears that a vehicle has gone over the cliff and is in the water.
"Due to the incoming tide and current weather conditions, and in consultation with the coastguard, it's not currently possible to retrieve this vehicle.
"It's not known if anyone is in the vehicle at this time."
