More than forty firefighters have spent the evening fighting a fire in the thatched roof of a farmhouse in Cadnam in the New Forest. The blaze has now been contained by Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service, but crews will stay on site to make sure all the hot spots are out. No-one was injured.
Group Manager Dan Tasker said: "An early call from the occupier allowed us to get to the property and get to work quickly. The first crews worked incredibly efficiently and professionally to restrict the fire to one part of the roof.
"Their hard work under a lot of pressure helped to prevent any spread to the property itself and also minimise water damage to the inside."
