Margate sewage flooding: Southern Water statement
Southern Water has issued a statement after raw sewage flooded into people's homes in Margate from a burst drain.
The householders had only moved in to the new properties three weeks ago.
– Southern Water spokespersonWe sincerely apologise for the disruption and distress caused by this unexpected incident. Initial investigations indicate that the incident was the result of a blockage caused by a build up of debris such as wet wipes, nappies and fat deposits in the sewer. Our team are on site dealing with the situation and liaising directly with the family affected and a comprehensive clean-up is being completed”.
