Designs for the Science & Discovery centre will go on show next week, they have been devised produced by the architects Foster & Partners. It's expected the planning application will be submitted before the end of the year. Building work is expected to begin in early 2015, with it opening in 2016.
The attraction will be called the Magnet and will include Britain's most advanced planetarium giving visitors a chance to see the wonders of the universe in 130-seat theatre. Speaking to the Oxford Times, Ian Griffin, Chief Executive of Science Oxford said:
We have spent two years thinking carefully about the kind of building that we want and the way we want to interpret science.
“We are proposing a world-class building which reflects the spirit of the centre and enhances its historic setting close to Oxford Castle.
