Not just for Christmas
It's 20 years since the message 'A Dog is for Life - not just for Christmas' was coined. It seems it applies as much today as it did then.
A man recently returned his animal to the Dogs Trust saying "My dog keeps barking at butterflies" - another said "Its coat didn't match the furniture."
The trust hopes this year people will think twice before buying a pet as a present. David Johns has our report.
