A 49-year-old man arrested on suspicion of the murder of an 88-year-old woman in Hove has been bailed.
Detectives from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team this afternoon (Saturday 5 January) released the man from custody on police bail until 19 February pending further enquiries.
The woman, who has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be Evelyn Stevens, was found at around 7am on Thursday 3 January outside her flat in Baltimore Court, The Drive, Hove.
A post mortem revealed that she suffered injuries consistent with a fall from height.
The 49-year-old man has today been released from custody on bail and our investigation into how Mrs Stevens died continues. There are still a number of lines of enquiry we are following.
