Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a security van was robbed in Reading yesterday.
Police were called to the incident in Basingstoke Road at around 5pm.
Two men attacked the 52-year-old driver who had just made a delivery to a nearby camping shop.
They rammed the victim with a pushbike, knocking him to the ground. He was then threatened with what appeared to be a handgun and struck on the back of the head.
The two offenders stole a cashbox containing a large sum of money and made off towards Buckland Road.
The driver suffered cuts and bruises.
This was a nasty attack on the victim in a shopping street in the late afternoon. We are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“While it was dark, there would have been people about in the area. We would urge anyone who may have seen anything in relation to this incident or who may have found the missing cash box to please contact us as a matter of urgency.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Const Brownlie on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
