Medway Council's gritting lorries will be out throughout the weekend as temperatures tumble across the southeast.
The Met Office is predicting snow showers, some heavy, could add to the already freezing temperatures for the southeast by the start of next week.
The council has 5,000 tonnes of salt stockpiled for use on the area's highways, as well as 388 salt bins and eight gritting vehicles.
