The gritters have been working through the night to ensure that all motorways and major roads are trouble free. Two inches of snow fell in parts of our region yesterday with Kent and Sussex the worst affected.
Kent County Council (KCC), said its sixty lorries have been salting key routes.
Toby Howe, Highway Manager for KCC said:
"We salted all our key routes on Saturday evening, then treated and ploughed these roads again before the snow started in earnest on Sunday morning. We are now concentrating on our primary salting routes, patrolling constantly throughout the day...
"We are keeping a special watch on known problem areas - in particular we have dedicated one gritter to patrolling Detling Hill non-strop and a second to Bluebell Hill."We also have crews out tackling pavements and pedestrian areas across all the districts, and crews filling depleted salt bins."
