How is your school performing?

Dozens of schools are failing to make the grade when it comes to GCSE results according to latest figures released today.

Performance tables show 18 in our region are in the bottom 200 in the country when it comes to getting five good grades including English and Maths.

At the other end of the scale 13 of our state schools are among the best in the land - with many more private schools showing excellent results too.

Some of the best in the region include Headington School, Oxford where every student passed at least five GCSEs with grades of C or above.

South Wilts Grammar Schools for Girls in Salisbury also had a perfect score.

One of those struggling is Aylesbury Vale Academy in Buckinghamshire as is St Aldhelm's Academy in Poole

Our social affairs correspondent Christine Alsford reports.
