Police in Brighton have started a murder investigation after a woman was found with serious injuries and later died.
At 8.45pm last night police were called to an incident in the street in Queen's Square, Brighton, where a 24-year-old woman had been seriously injured.
The woman was taken to hospital but has subsequently died and a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of her murder.
The victim and the man in custody are known to each other.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial Operation Westfield or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
