Man arrested after cannabis find

A man has been arrested after police found a cannabis farm in Maidstone. Officers were called to an address in London Road in the town on 16 February where they discovered 24 cannabis plants at various stages of growth. Officers also seized a large amount of herbal cannabis.

A 23-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and supplying a controlled drug. He was also arrested on suspicion of passing counterfeit currency.

“Seizing drugs stops people profiting from selling illegal substances, and also helps reduce other associated crime, such as theft and anti-social behaviour. In this instance, the local neighbourhood officers were in the area on another matter, but caught the scent of the cannabis and further investigation led to us making an arrest. I would encourage anyone who suspects drug use or dealing in their area to contact us so we can investigate.”
