An army of volunteers helped to push stranded motorists in Burgess Hill as Monday night's snowfall made the road impassable to all but four-wheel drive vehicles.
Trevor Butler told ITV News that cars and vans queued to mount Station Road past the town's rail station but with wheels spinning ferociously in the impacted snow, many found it slow going and queues built up.
