Kent Police have targeted a number of scrap metal dealerships to coincide with the National Metal Theft Day of Action.

A total of 31 scrap metal dealers were inspected to make sure they were not dealing in stolen metal, cabling or vehicles while employees.

Detective Constable Jon Saxby, of the Kent and Essex Serious Organised Crime Unit, said: "It is important to carry out operations such as this as it sends out a clear message that we will not tolerate illegal transactions at scrap metal yards in Kent."
