It is with great sadness that Borough of Poole can confirm the death of Mrs Ally Mullany, headteacher of St Joseph's RC VA Primary School.
Mrs Mullany tragically died on Sunday morning and as a mark of respect the school has taken the decision to close on Monday. It will reopen to children tomorrow.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ally's family at this time. We took the decision to close the school today as a mark of respect and we would like to thank parents for their support.
We have set up a book of condolence at the school for the school community to leave their tributes and there is also a book of condolence at St Joseph's church for local residents to sign.
Ally was an inspirational leader and teacher and we are all devastated by her loss, but our thoughts and prayers are very much with her family.
Mrs Mullany had been head of St Joseph's since April 2008. The council is offering support to staff and children where required.
At this tragic time our thoughts are with the family of Mrs Mullany. The council is offering support to staff at St Joseph's as they deal with the loss of a wonderful colleague and friend.
The book of condolence will be available to sign before school and after school until the end of the week.
