The only freight operator at the port of Ramsgate has gone into administration.
TransEuropa Ferries suspended services earlier this week, and today it's been confirmed that operations between Ramsgate and Belgium will not resume.
Dozens of people in Kent will lose their jobs as a result of the closure.
The company's been running three ships out of the port, one of which was chartered from P&O and ITV Meridian understands that that vessel has been taken back by the company.
TransEuropa services have been unavailable for a comment.
