Failing school to become an academy

In a statement on the school website, the acting principle Elizabeth King said she was 'disappointed' with the Ofsted report, and that the inspection was carried out four weeks before her appointment.

She went on to say that the school may be turned into an academy to improve standards.

Early in this process, we came into contact with Oasis Community Learning, one of the largest Academy networks in the country. Oasis has been running academies for several years and has a proven track record in effective school improvement. It is therefore proposed that, subject to consultation, Chaucer Technology School will become an Oasis Academy.

It is our belief that partnering with Oasis will help set us on the path to making the improvements that the Ofsted report deems necessary and I have long believed will lead to a brighter future for our school community.
