In East Sussex the Conservatives lost overall control of the council after losing nine seats, with UKIP again performing strongly. However the Tories remain the largest single party on the authority.
The new make up of the council is Conservatives 20, Lib Dems 10, Labour 7, UKIP 7 and five independents.
Labour is also celebrating after it's councillors won seven of the eight seats in Hastings, prompting a visit from Labour leader Ed Milliband. Malcolm Shaw has our report.
Decontamination work is to begin at nine sites across the city.
