The World War Two veteran Commander Eddie Grenfell who fought for years for official recognition of those involved in the Arctic Convoys is to be given a Churchill Award. The awards have been introduced to recognise the role over 65s play in our society.
Commander Grenfell's successful campaign saw the ninety-three year old from Southsea in Portsmouth, and many of his colleagues finally receive the Arctic Star medal this year.
