Conservationists say the successful re-introduction of red kites to Britain offers hope that other British species such as skylarks will be able to recover.

The red kites are a regular sight in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire after they were initially introduced to the Chiltern Hills in 1989.

Watch: Peregrine chicks successfully breed in Chichester.

Region's wildlife disappearing

'We're losing wildlife at an alarming rate'. That's according to the first wideranging survey of the UK's native wildlife. 60% of the species studied are in decline. Scientists from 25 organisations including the RSPB took part in the research.
