A woman who wasted over 250 hours of police time when she falsely claimed she had been raped has been ordered to pay Kent Police £500 in compensation. Stacey Wallace, 26, from Humber Crescent in Strood, appeared before Medway Magistrates for sentencing after she admitted wasting police time.
Wallace was also given a four-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, a nine-month supervision requirement and a drug rehabilitation order for six-months. Wallace had claimed she was raped by a man as she walked home from a Chatham nightclub in the early hours of October 20, 2012.
She told police four men had followed her over Rochester Bridge and that one of the men had raped her, An investigation led to the arrest of a man. During his police interview the man said the sex was consensual - he even gave Wallace his business card. It was s found in Wallace's pocket.
