Police appeal after serious assault

Police in Southampton are seeking witnesses to a serious assault that left a man "with bruises and grazes to nearly every part of his body".

A 44-year-old man rang police on Tuesday at 12.15pm to say he was driving and being followed by another car.

In South Road, the victim’s car was stopped at the junction of Priory Road. The victim was dragged from it by six men, all of whom allegedly assaulted him.

Six Southampton men have been arrested on suspicion of assault. All have been bailed, pending further enquiries, until October 7.

This serious assault is a rare occurrence. At the time of the incident, many people are likely to have been in the area. If you witnessed what happened, the police need to hear from you.
