A book has been returned to an Oxford library 55 years after being taken out on loan.
The book - Regency Furniture 1795-1820, by Margaret Jourdain - originally borrowed on 30 November 1958.
The Independent reports the book was returned by an elderly lady who said she was prepared to pay a fine.
However, librarians at Oxford City library decided to waive the fine - which would have totalled £900.
