Cycle races in city centre mark a year since Olympics

A city in Hampshire is celebrating a year since the 2012 Olympic Games in London - by turning itself into a high-speed race circuit for cyclists.

After a family fun day, spectators in Winchester have been able to watch child and adult competitors - with some riders reaching speeds of up to 30 miles an hour through the city centre. The races continue until 9pm tonight.

Councillor Rob Humby, Winchester City Council's Cabinet member for Sport explained the significance of the event.
