Healthcare worker was a Hepatitis C carrier

Patients who were treated at the former All Saints Hospital in Chatham in 1979 are being asked to contact a helpline, if they are worried about having been in contact with a healthcare worker who was a Hepatitis C carrier.

The NHS employee worked at hospitals across the UK including the one in Chatham in November 1979. Health chiefs say there is an extremely small chance that a patient could acquire the Hep C virus through surgical contact with an infected worker.

A national confidential helpline on 0800 121 4400 has been set up for people who may be worried.
