Kent Police have launched a murder enquiry after a woman's body was found in the basement of a shop in Luton Road, Chatham on Saturday afternoon.
A spokesperson said it was too early to confirm if it is the body of 69-year-old Harjit Chaggar - she was reported missing on the second of September.
Four men have been arrested in connection with the incident. They remain in police custody.
"Our investigation is in the very early stages and i would like to reassure the community not to be alarmed by the extra police activity in the Luton area of Chatham today.
We have a number of enquiries and are keen to hear from anyone with information that may assist us."
