A woman cyclist was killed last night in a hit and run near Pulborough in Sussex. A silver Citreon Xsara was travelling southbound on the A29 at 8.05pm at Codmore Hill when it overtook a grey Audi Q7 onto the opposite carriageway. It collided with a bicycle, lost control and crashed.
The driver fled the scene. The 27-year-old woman cyclist from Kingsfold sadly died from her injuries at the scene. Two people were arrested at the scene, a 22-year-old woman from Crawley and a 17-year-old boy from Horsham, for death by dangerous driving, drink driving and theft of a vehicle.
A 26-year-old man from Billingshurst, believed to be the driver, was arrested in Storrington for death by dangerous driving, drink driving and driving while disqualified. They all remain in custody. Any witnesses call 101 or email email@example.com quoting Operation Barnward.
