The section of the M4 between junctions 15 and 14 affected by a number of road traffic collisions this morning is due to be fully reopened within the next hour. Wiltshire Police were first alerted to a collision between a car transporter, a car and a van on the M4 shortly before 00.18am.
As a result of this collision, the M4 in both directions was closed between junction 15 and 14 at 00.38am.
Further to this initial collision, a number of other collisions also occurred.
As a result of these collisions, three people were seriously injured with one woman receiving life threatening injuries. Two have been airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol and one has been taken via land ambulance to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. The next of kin of all those injured have been informed.
