The Isle of Wight has recorded the highest winds overnight - with the monitoring station at The Needles recording gusts of 99 mph.
The Environment Agency has issued 14 flood warnings for the South West, as well as 146 flood alerts for the rest of England and Wales
The strongest winds are around Dorset, Somerset and the Hampshire areas, and forecasters say they are going to spread north and east in the next few hours. Elsewhere it has reached 80mph in Portland in Dorset and 75mph at Yeovilton in Somerset, but gusts are widely reaching 50mph.
