Man held after two girls killed

Police investigating the death of two teenage girls who were killed in Gosport after being hit by a car have been given more time to question a 20-year-old man in custody.

Second girl dies after car used in murder

A murder investigation has now been launched after two teenage girls were hit by a car in Hampshire.

A 14-year-old girl died at the scene on Ann's Hill Road near Brougham Street in Gosport.

A 16-year-old girl was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham where she has since died.

Detective Superintendent Dick Pearson, from Hampshire Police said: 'This is an extremely tragic incident which has resulted in the death of two young girls. I currently have a team of detectives and other officers working on this case to fully investigate the circumstances.'

A 20-year-old man from Gosport has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Major Investigation Team at Fratton Police Station on 101, quoting Operation Barb.
