Olympic Gold Medallist Captain Heather Stanning has returned from Helmand Province after a 6 month tour as part of the British military’s force in Afghanistan. Army Officer Heather, and her team mate Helen Glover, won Team GB’s first Gold Medal at the London 2012 games in the rowing women’s pair.
Following her Olympic success Capt Stanning returned to her career with the Royal Artillery. After completing intensive pre-deployment training and specialist training working with the Royal Artillery’s Unmanned Air Systems, her chosen specialisation, she deployed to Afghanistan in April this year.
