The Olympic champion Heather Stanning, who won the first gold medal for Great Britain at London 2012 - today received a medal of a different kind.
Captain Stanning was presented with an operational medal at her barracks in Thorney Island in Sussex. It follows a six month tour - in Afghanistan.
The army officer and her team mate Helen Glover, won Team GB’s first Gold Medal at the London 2012 games in the rowing women’s pair.
The Royal Artillery officer told our reporter Sally Simmonds - she now has her heart set on a second gold - in Rio.
