Thames Valley Police have said they are treating the death of a man whose motobility scooter went into Osney Lock at Oxford, as unexplained.
The 47-year-old man from the Oxford area was recovered from the lock and died at the scene.
Officers were called to the lock at 6.30pm on Saturday 4th January.
“This tragic incident highlights the dangers of using pathways which have flooded in areas including Oxford.
“The public should be particularly careful following the recent heavy rainfall, especially along the River Thames, and ensure they do not put themselves at risk by entering flood water. I urge anyone using these areas to take extra caution.
“Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died.”
