Police investigating an attack ask for public help

Hampshire Police investigating an attack on a teenage girl are trying to trace a man in connection with the incident in Southampton.

A 15-year-old girl said that she and a friend were walking along Kathleen Road in the Bitterne area when a jogger approached them saying they had knocked over a bin.

The girl said the man grabbed her hair and punched her in the ribs. She went home without seeking medical attention. It happened at around 4.30pm on Tuesday 4th February.

The man has been described as white, in his 40s or 50s, 5’4” approx., with average build and messy grey hair.

PC Alexa Ward from Bitterne Safer Neighbourhoods team said: "I’m looking to identify the man involved. It appears he was jogging on a regular route. “His behaviour was unacceptable and I would like to speak with him about what happened.

“I would like to hear either directly from him or anyone who recognises him.”.
