Plans afoot to remove some of M4's hard shoulder

Changes planned for the M4

The M4 in Berkshire will become the longest section of motorway in Britain to have its hard shoulder removed.

The highly controversial plan was recently revealed by ITV News Meridian with motoring groups claiming the move will put safety at risk. The M3 and M25 will also have sections of the hard shoulder removed.

The Highways Agency will reveal the plans at a series of public events along the route next week.
